To be honest, it was the title of "Menace II
Society"'s opening track that pushed me into buying it without listening to a single sample: could it be that a well-known and highly-respected deep house producer was about to try his hand at grime? The answer was, of course, no, but the Skepta samples that litter the tune make it a more than worthwhile purchase. In fact, this a cracking EP full stop; kick drums that wouldn't sound out of place on a Perc track + instantly memorable tunesmithery = one absolute banger of a house record. I can't say I wouldn't like to hear a Mall Grab grime tune but until that highly unlikely event occurs, this will do just fine.
